About Presentation
Title: Health and Wellbeing Challenges and Opportunities for Off-The-Shelf Generative AI Systems
Our everyday lives are full of AI powered innovations. Images and videos can be instantly filtered on social media, AI personal trainers and personalised meal plans have revolutionised health and fitness apps, chatbots that can naturally engage with users about concerns, and tools like chatGPT, which have reduced administrative and cognitive load across a range of tasks. However, there are a number of unintended consequences that these innovations can bring for mental health and wellbeing (e.g. the separation of reality and hyper-idealised imagery, a lack of cultural contextualisation and harmful behavior identification, hallucinations around health information, and inherent biases and stereotypes within large language model outputs). This talk will explore these challenges and impacts within the mental health domain, as well as highlighting key opportunities for considered, ethical and trustworthy solutions that can drive future research through responsible innovation.
